READING ACTIVITY

At Oradell Public School, we believe that creating lifelong readers and learners is at the heart of what we do, and that learning doesn’t end when school does. As we live The Way of the Panther, we encourage every student to show curiosity, courage, and commitment, even over the summer!

This summer, we’re challenging our students to push past their comfort zones by exploring a variety of genres and making reading part of their daily routine. All students entering second grade will read a fairy tale story of their choice.

Directions:
1. Choose your fairy tale and read it carefully.
2. As you read, think about the important parts of the story.
3. Complete this Fairy Tale Story Map by writing or drawing the following:
    • Setting - Where and when does the story take place?
    • Characters - Who are the main characters?
    • Beginning - How does the story start?
    • Middle - What are the important events or problems?
    • End - How is the problem solved? How does the story end?
