We hope this resource will become an often used and helpful tool for improving your writing.

This resource is based on the most current MLA Handbook; however, your instructor may have different formatting directions.

The MLA Handbook advises students to "follow the directions of [their] instructor, school, or publisher if [they] are asked to use different formatting guidelines" (1).

The handbook further explains that students "should also be responsive to the specific demands of [their] project, which may have unique needs” (1).
