1. Watch the introductory Loom video above.
2. Search around the virtual art room below for hidden links to help you with this week's symmetrical drawing assignment. I've just shared a few ideas, but there are many different ways to draw symmetrically. Chose a method that works for you!
3. Create a symmetrical drawing. Think about how you can incorporate movement and make it a kinetic artwork. Are you using your whole body? Are you using a range of motion in your arms?
Here are some ideas on how to make your drawing:
Go outside and create a chalk drawing in your driveway using your whole body like artist Heather Hansen. Make sure you are wearing play clothes since you will get chalk on them!
Ask a family member to draw with you using the partner mirroring technique demonstrated in one of the hidden videos. You can do this sitting outside on your driveway in chalk. You may also use chalk or a different drawing material on paper. For this alternative line the pieces of paper up, tape them together and then tape them down on the surface you are drawing on.
Challenge yourself to draw with both hands at once! Fold a piece of paper in half and tape it down to the surface you are drawing on. Or go outside with chalk and try it in your driveway.
Fold a piece of paper in half and try to draw something that is symmetrical, or the same on both sides like a butterfly.
Remember the goal is to use movement in your arms or whole body to a drawing that is the same on both sides.
I can't wait to see you kinetic artwork and symmetrical designs!
