Tour China and Taiwan from north to south, from ancient to modern, from city to the nature!
The modern capital Beijing—with its sprawling Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace and the amazing Great Wall—is a worthy successor to the former capital Xi’an. A visit to Bayi High School for a calligraphy lesson, and rickshaw rides through the ancient alleyways, "Hutong", bring our students to Beijing-ian's life in real time.
After the grand fest on the monuments of Beijing, fly across the Taiwan Strip to Taiwan, also known as Formosa. Taiwan is famous for its green scenery and friendly people, trading and computer products, as well as tea plantations and night markets.Taipei, the capital city, is a modern metropolis with Japanese colonial lanes, busy shopping streets and contemporary buildings. The skyline is crowned by the 509m-tall, bamboo-shaped Taipei 101 skyscraper, with upscale shops at the base and a rapid elevator to an observatory near the top.
Jiufen, an old mining town located in the outskirt of Taipei, is famous for its hilly and winding streets. In recent years, it has become a popular spot for flying sky lanterns. Danlan Ancient Paths are newly recovered and opened to visitors/hikers. The 2-3 hours hiking will be a refreshing treat to the lungs!
This trip is more than an excursion; we will also visit our exchange school in Taichung, the biggest city in the central part of the island. The 3-day stay is for students to experience the life of high school students and life of the local people.
