Chinese 5/6A is an honors course. It teaches students more in-depth essential life verbal skills through dialogues and core vocabulary. Students explore Chinese culture by studying various literary genres and the visual and performing arts. Biweekly “Current Events” raise student awareness of today's China, helping them to make contemporary cultural connections. To further encourage students to explore the Chinese language and culture outside of the classroom, they are required to choose from one of nine Cultural Connections projects. Prerequisite: Mandarin Chinese 3/4 with a C or better grade, or teacher’s approval.
