Our first overseas trip! We had a truly immersive experience in China: culturally fascinating, politically relevant, and home to a fifth of the world’s population. Our first stop was Beijing, where we learned all about Chinese history and lifestyle, from the pampered lives of Chinese emperors to the everyday lives of schoolchildren. Of course, we had to make a stop at the Great Wall and the Shanghai Bund. We explored Xi’an, the capital of China for 13 dynasties. We rode a rickshaw, sipped on Chinese tea, and even tried Taiji. Last but not the least, the three-day stay with the Jin-Shan High School in Shanghai marked some unforgettable memories.
