The OSA Sports Academy launched in September for our group of selected learners in Years 8 and 9. The Sports Academy is a tailored and targeted programme for learners who are showing great dedication to Physical Education, as well as adhering to the schools values of Kindness, Ambition and Responsibility. The Sports Academy sessions aim to coach our learners into the values of teamwork, communication, cooperation and respect, whilst also building up their skills to eventually become a Sports Captain in KS4.
This half term, our focus has been on team building and communication. Mr Oakaby-Wright has led weekly sessions on a Tuesday morning between 8:20-9am and has set up a wide range of activities for our learners to partake in and to develop their team building skills. We have had activities such as, the blindfolded obstacle course, the floor is lava challenge and creating presentations on what the learners have learnt and gained from the sessions.
Each learner also has been assigned a mentor from the P.E department in a bespoke mentoring programme, assigning targets and building confidence in the sessions.
After half term, the learners will be moving on to unit 2 which focuses on Physical fitness.....I hope everyone is ready for some push ups!
