Overseas Trips: Years 10-13
IMPORTANT NOTE: The approximate costs will differ according to the number of students signing-up, along with flight costs, which fluctuate on a weekly basis. A more accurate figure will be confirmed after sign-ups have taken place. At this point, deposits will be paid to secure places on programs. When all costs have been confirmed, a second payment will be made around October.
Parents are responsible for arranging VISA's if required.
Passports need to be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of arrival at their destination. Again, this is your responsibility.
Most overseas trips will utilise the weekends either side of the week of 4-8 November for travel to optimise the length of the trip.
The itinerary's are subject to change according to the interests of the students and opportunities that are available through the service providers.
Community Centre Service in Chiang Mai
Students will learn to build and develop a clay library and community centre to support the local community in the city of Baan Meejo. Other activities, include hiking through local Buddhist temples and paying respects to the resident monks, shopping in the local night markets, swimming in a local waterfall and studying the creation of various delectable Thai dishes.
Gopeng - A Hero's Journey
This fascinating program has a focus on sustainability. Students will stay at a purpose made earth camp and will partake in a range of profound educational experiences to learn more about the environment. There are also a range of high octane experiences, such as stand up paddle boarding, white water rafting, high ropes, caving and climbing.

Chiang Mai, Thailand, Elephant Welfare Program
The program will involve work with members of the local community on sustainability projects, such as turning elephant poop to paper, working on a farm or growing nutritious food for the elephants. Students will further be participating in various activities ranging from observing elephants to visiting markets and having a bonfire under the stars.

Thailand Marine Conservation
Students will participate in various exciting activities ranging from breathtaking hikes, to traditional cooking classes, to snorkel trips. The group will also learn about sustainability in marine life will be creating rafting coral nurseries and reef Dome projects.
Students participate in various sustainability projects, that focus on conservation and Malaysian culture. There are also a number of activities, such as kayaking and a potential highlight of rafting through the jungle.

Adventure and Marine Life Malaysia

African Conservation Experience
This once in a lifetime trip will provide students with the opportunity to visit a National Park in South Africa. They will immerse themselves in the exploration and understanding of wildlife-related issues and actively contribute to projects.

Katja House Kathmandu - Orphanage Service Trip
Island School have enjoyed a significant partnership with Katja House, for well over 20 years. During this profound experience, our students will support students (aged 4-14 years old) at this orphanage. There will also be opportunities to experience the unique culture of Nepal

Vietnam Service and Community Insight
This trip features a meaningful service project in the mountain villages in northern Vietnam, with students working with local ethnic hill tribes. The trip also features an amazing Halong Bay cruise, which includes kayaking and squid fishing.
Philippines Scuba Diving and Service
This program offers students the opportunity to undergo your PADI course, diving in the Puerto Galera area. Students will also fulfil their responsibility through an environmental awareness project.

Surf & Service in the Philippines
Students will spend a week surfing along the thrilling waves of San Juan, Philippines, alongside trusted and experienced surf coaches. Away from the crashing shores, students will have the chance to work with CURMA on their turtle conservation project, as well as planting and harvesting on the Lotus Organic Valley farm.

Rompin State Park & Rawa Island - Rainforest to Reef
Deep in the Malaysian jungles and on a white-sand private island, students will enjoy kayaking, high ropes, abseiling, and snorkelling! You will also get the chance to give back to the local community through rainforest and reef rehabilitation.
