Leaving Island School prior to Quest Week:
If you are leaving Island School prior to Quest Week, please confirm this by selecting “I am Leaving Island School” through the Form.
Exams and interviews:
Quest Week 2026 falls at the start of November, with overseas trips utilising the weekends either side to travel. These dates have been chosen to try to avoid external examinations that have affected some students in the past few years. However, it is NOT guaranteed that this date will solve this problem. It is therefore still very important that you check that you are not going to be involved in ANY exams (SATs, re-sits, etc) which might affect your choice for Quest Week 2026. It is YOUR responsibility to check this and ensure you do not have a clash.
Once you have been confirmed on your option and your deposit has been paid, if you decide that you can no longer go on your chosen Quest Week option, you will NOT be entitled to any refund of your deposit.
Overseas Trips:
Visas: Parents are responsible for arranging visas if required. Necessary paperwork to support your application will be provided by the school. Visas on arrival are not accepted by the school; if required, they must be applied for and obtained in advance of the trip.
Passports: Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival at the destination. Again, this is your responsibility. Passports must also have at least one clear page.
Vaccinations: Please consult with your doctor on any vaccination/inoculation requirements for your country of travel. If required, you must ensure these are given in the appropriate time frame prior to the departure date.
Safety
Safety is a major focus for Island School when organising activities.
The following steps are taken to ensure this safety:
Documentation regarding the registration and status of any outside provider is collected.
References are sought and checked.
For outside providers, the qualifications of personnel and the provider's safety and risk mitigation procedures are checked.
Activity leaders check first aid training status and, if necessary, retrain.
Medical details for all students are examined, collated and followed up as necessary.
Service providers and leaders create detailed risk-mitigation documents covering every aspect of the activity, which are checked and signed off by the VP in charge of Quest Week.
Itineraries, contact details, and student and family contact details are collated, and copies are kept at school.
First aid kits are ordered, customised and collected.
A case is created with International SOS for each overseas trip, establishing up-to-date travel, medical and safety advice based on the specific itinerary for that trip. This information is used in the risk assessments prepared for each trip. Closest medical and logistical support is noted, and leaders carry these contact details.
Any medical or safety issues or concerns are reported back to the School's emergency contact, who is in contact with parents via the emergency phone number.
Experiences are collected and shared across ESF to inform future planning and practice.
