Selection & Sign Up Procedure
Participation
Quest Week is an integral and compulsory aspect of the students’ learning experience at Island School. Given the importance of this experiential program for developing skills and building community, all students are required to attend. This is a commitment that parents agree to uphold when they choose to enrol their child in the school. When a student enrols in a specific program, their commitment to attend includes settling the final payment once the final budgets are calculated, which we endeavour to share well in advance of the program.
For families new to the school, invoices will be shared as soon as possible after the student has joined the school.
For students who are unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances, it is essential to notify the school at the beginning of the academic year, in August. We understand that there may be genuine medical or family reasons that prevent students from attending.
Trip Participation & Suitability
Quest Week is intentionally designed to challenge students and encourage growth outside their comfort zones. To ensure a safe and positive experience, it is essential that students participate in programs suited to their individual needs.
Our pastoral team reviews all registrations to ensure trip appropriateness. Please note that the school may identify specific pathways for certain students and direct them toward particular programs in advance of the sign-up taking place.
Additionally, students who have previously been sent home from a Quest Week trip or have a history of significant behavioural issues whilst on program will not be eligible for overseas travel. As a result, they will be informed of the need to sign up for local trips the following year.
Sign-up Process
Before you make your selection, you MUST have had a discussion with your parents about your trip preference. Your parents must approve of your choice as, ultimately, they will be paying for the experience. We appreciate that you may want to join your friends on a trip, so we would also encourage you to speak to them before you confirm.
We would like to stress that withdrawal from your option, once deposits have been paid, WILL result in the loss of your deposit.

VISAs
It is essential to note that you are required to make the necessary visa arrangements to enter the country for which you have signed up. Unfortunately, we are not travel specialists and do not know the travel documents required for the various passports issued by the countries we visit. As a result, you may need to seek professional guidance regarding the requirements. It is then your responsibility to ensure that you apply on time. Any failure to secure the necessary travel documents will not result in a refund.
