Facts about the Battle of Charleston:

  1. It was the greatest lost of manpower and equipment for the Americans.
  2. The Americans nearly gave The British complete control of The Southern Colonies.
  3. On May 12, 1780, Ben Lincoln unconditionally surrendered Charleston and gave 4,650 soldiers to The British.
  4. There were 260 guns afloat and forty guns at Fort Moultrie.
  5. At 3 o’clock in the morning on the 14th, The British reached the American Post, catching them completely with surprise and routing them.
