Facts about the Battle of Princeton:
Many Colonists did not know that George crossed the Delaware River.
When he arrived at Pennsylvania camp he received word that General Cadwalader had crossed the Delaware and was in Trenton.
Cadwalader had not crossed on Christmas due to the bad weather and mistakenly assumed Washington would not have crossed either.
Upon learning that Washington had not only crossed he had beaten Hessians, the shamed-face Cadwalader crossed and unentered the unoccupied Trenton.
Instead of fortifying Trenton he put his lines just south bank of the Assunpink Creek.
