Technical Infrastructure & Support

To fully support students who will continue with Distance Learning we will have plans ready to supply students needing technology and connectivity across the board. With unified learning platforms for all secondary students, we are more ready than ever to provide students with vibrant distance learning opportunities. Elementary students' learning will be rooted in Google Classroom. Our staff will continue to recognize how Zoom and Google Classroom can support learning moving forward for both onsite and online students. Additional software such as GoGuardian, Spaces, myBlueprint, Turnitin have been purchased to provide for better online instruction, educational experience and safety

Technology Infrastructure and Tech Support

  • Both buildings have wifi and enough access points to provide fast Internet connection

  • OGC has fiber optics data connection for fast Internet access

Devices for Students

  • All OGMS and OGHS students have personal Chromebooks

  • All other grades have shared Chromebooks or Tablets

  • Shared technology will be cleaned and disinfected as per the Health and Safety protocols in place. Restrict each class to use the shared cart on a separate day of the week

  • Students will use Google Classroom in G-Suite as their learning platform

  • Students will use Zoom for their synchronous Distant Learning

Acceptable use of Technology Agreements for Students and Cyber Security/Privacy

  • Within the first week of the school year, students/parents are to acknowledge our Tech Acceptable Use Policy-Student using this form: Tech Acceptable policy for all students

  • Numerous resources are available to support digital citizenship including the Board's Responsible Use Procedures​ for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) use in schools.​​​​​​​

  • Families are encouraged to review HDSB Internet Safety resources with their child(ren)

Technology Support for Students and Families

  • A website, OGHS Zoomerz, has been created to support all students and families in using technology and providing solutions to common technical issues, questions or ways to reach out to receive Technical Support
