Distance Learning Schedule

Logistics and Protocol

In order to make the transition for you and your child in this Distant Learning experience more pleasant, please do the following as soon as possible.

Logistics for learning:

  1. Setup a place conducive for learning, depending on the age of your child. Please avoid having your child on a device for many hours of the day unsupervised as there is no substitute for adult supervision when students are online. Please reference Common Sense Media where you can find great resources for you and your child.

  1. Download/update the ZOOM platform. Please use your child's OGS account to “sign in”. No setup process of your personal information is required.

Online Protocol:

  1. No uniform is required for students, however, girls from Grades 4 and up must wear their hijab if they are on video. Appropriate dress is required for both genders (No pyjamas)

  2. For Grades 6 and up, we strongly recommend the use of OGS Provisioned Chromebooks only for Distant Learning due to the availability of security system, GoGuardian, on the Chromebooks. We are unable to monitor any device, other than school provisioned Chromebooks, including phones.

  3. It is preferable for your child to use a computer/Chromebooks with headphones, including a mic, if they have them during the ZOOM sessions.

  4. Teachers may record their session and upload to Google Classroom. No ZOOM content will be uploaded to public sites and are being used for monitoring purposes only. Moreover, the recordings are focused on the recorder and not the students.

Teachers will be using Google Classroom assignment, quiz assignment or Question with most sessions, as an exit quiz for example, to be able to track attendance and hold students accountable for their learning. Please allow students to upload recorded video or voice of their work on relevant subjects (Quran, French, Language, etc) if needed.

Daily attendance will be taken and on going assessment will be made. Keeping in mind the current unprecedented
