Community College

The California College Promise Program offers 1 year free at California community colleges. To be eligible you must be a full-time student, a CA resident and a first-time college student. Not every California community college offers this program, so check each college's website.

Ventura College offers 2 years free tuition.

Each year the CCC assists students in applying to community colleges. Application and registration workshops for Ventura College are held each spring on the NHS campus. Nordhoff also hosts COMMUNITY COLLEGE NIGHT featuring speakers from both Ventura College and Santa Barbara City College. Check the calendar for dates and times.

Out-of-Region or Out-of-State Community Colleges

This is a consideration if you are hoping to transfer to a 4-year college or university in another part of California or a different state. Many community colleges have strong articulation agreements with nearby universities that may allow more of your CC credits to transfer than if you attended a CC in Ventura or Santa Barbara Counties. If in a different state, you will be charged out-of-state tuition, but by establishing residency in that state you will save on tuition once you transfer to a 4-year school. Do your research!
