The Oak Harbor High School Jazz Program offers students three vibrant ways to experience the art of jazz. Each ensemble gives musicians the chance to grow, perform, and share music with both the school and the community.
Jazz Ensemble I (Auditioned)
This select group is for advanced players ready to take on challenging repertoire and explore advanced jazz techniques. Ensemble I performs at school concerts, community events, festivals, and competitions across the region, showcasing everything from classic swing to modern jazz.
Jazz Ensemble II (Open Enrollment)
Perfect for students who are newer to jazz or want to develop their skills further, Ensemble II provides a supportive environment to explore improvisation, build confidence in soloing, and strengthen jazz theory and ensemble playing. It’s an accessible entry point into the jazz tradition while still offering plenty of performance opportunities.
Swing Band
Focused on music made for dancing, Swing Band specializes in classic swing styles and brings energy to community events and local dances. This ensemble connects students directly with the social side of jazz, celebrating the joy of rhythm and movement.
Together, these ensembles embody creativity, collaboration, and the vibrant spirit of jazz. Whether you’re just starting your journey or ready to push your skills to the next level, the OHHS Jazz Program has a place for you.
