All students interested in participating in either the Ogden High IB Diploma Programme or Career-Related Program are encouraged to contact Mr. Dunn (dunnt@ogdensd.org) to schedule a meeting.
Both IB programs and all IB courses are open to any interested student. To better prepare for we suggest students keep the following guidelines in mind:
Meet with your counselor and express an interest in the IB program.
If a student is not in the Ogden High boundaries they will need to complete a Boundary Exception form.
Take honors courses as appropriate - including foreign language
Participate in the Avid program as appropriate
9th grade - work on graduation requirements (CTE, PE, Fine Arts)
Be active in school & local community
Participate in the pre-IB advisory program
Take honors courses as appropriate (English, Math, Honors Chemistry, AP World, world language)
Work on graduation requirements (CTE, PE, Fine Arts)
Participate in the Avid program as appropriate
Be active in school & local community
Students that do not participate in the pre-IB program may apply for either IB Program - Diploma Program or Career-Related Program. They will need to complete the following:
Boundary exception application (if not in OSD boundaries)
Complete IB Application - include all transcripts, personal statement, and teacher recommendations
Meet with IB Coordinator
After students have submitted the IB application and completed the interview process, any concerns regarding the appropriateness of participating in the program expressed by the student, parents, or teachers will be discussed to determine possible strategies, interventions, and/or alternate programs. Ogden High offers a variety of options for students to pursue rigorous coursework and earn college credit. We are committed to helping students choose an academically challenging course of study that will prepare them for post-secondary success.
Ogden High School’s assessment policy is a working document that guides teacher practice and furthers student development as balanced, whole learners. It will be reviewed and revised yearly, or as necessary, by the school’s pedagogical leadership team (administrators, IB Coordinator, department heads, and interested teachers).
