Student Initiates Work Permit Request
The student emails their teacher to express interest in obtaining a work permit.
Work permits can only be issued once a formal job offer has been made.
The teacher reviews the request and determines if the student meets eligibility requirements.
Teacher Emails PSC/AP
If the student qualifies, the teacher notifies the counselor or Assistant Principal (AP) to proceed with the next steps.
Student Form Submission
The student receives an email from PSC/AP directing them to complete the Work Permit Request Form google form.
The completed and fully signed B1-1 form must be uploaded to the form.
Permit Processing
The PSC/AP reviews the form responses and gathers the required information to issue the actual permit (B1-4).
A photo of the permit is saved in student records.
Permit issuance is logged in the appropriate system.
Distribution
The top two copies of the B1-4 are mailed to the student/parent.
The pink copy is retained for school records.
You must complete at least 5 units per month to qualify for a work permit. Completing fewer than 5 units means you are behind the California standard of 60 credits per year. Students who are not on track cannot be issued a work permit.
You must also attend all school appointments on time and prepared, including:
Virtual meetings with teachers
Testing appointments (virtual and in-center)
Required assessments (RenStar, ELPAC, SBAC, CAST, PFT, PSAT)
Next Steps:
Have your employer complete and sign the application.
Scan or take a clear photo of the signed form.
Upload form and fill out the google form. See below for which one.
Once received, OP will mail a physical copy of your work permit to the home address we have on file. You can then provide it directly to your employer.Â
Please note that this could take a few days. We cannot rush this process!
