A CRN is a 5-digit Course Record Number. Each course and each section have a unique, specific CRN every semester. You can find a course's CRN(s) by looking in
Your Canvas Course
Your course listing in Leo Online
Course records are managed in Banner by the Registrar's Office. If there is a discrepancy with your CRN, contact your department or unit.
ODU courses also have IDs, which contain the term code + semester + subject and course number + lowest CRN. These digits are followed by the course's abridged title.
Examples:
201910_FALL_CET318_12345: Introduction to CET
201920_SPRING_CET318_67890: Introduction to CET
201930_SUMMER_CET318_98765: Introduction to CET
Term codes consist of the academic year, not the calendar year, plus a numeric reference to the semester (10=fall, 20=spring, 30=summer). A "202020" course would take place in Spring 2021, for example.
Student Preview enables instructors to see the student's perspective. You are also provided a "Test Student" in each class, allowing you to view the course, post and reply to discussions, submit assignments, view grades, view people, view pages, view the syllabus, view quizzes, view the calendar, and view the scheduler (if enabled).
Note that attendance, conferences, conversations inbox, collaborations, differentiated assignments, external apps, groups, peer reviews, and profiles do not work for the Test Student.
CLT recommends checking your modules to ensure students see what you intend they see to alleviate any issues.

Choose to add test questions (if any are included in your Bb zip file) to an existing question bank in Canvas or create a new question bank
Select "All Content."
Click the 'Import' button. You will see a progress bar.
From here you can assign it as an ungraded survey as you normally would.

Adaptive Release allows instructors to limit student access to course content until certain requirements have been met. You can lock a module until a designated date and time, require students to move through the module in order, set certain requirements for a module (e.g., must submit an assignment before going to the next page), or set prerequisites that must be completed before students could proceed to the next module.

If you are not using weighted assignment groups, you can add a zero-point assignment that is either "No submission" or "Paper submission." You can add your extra credit here.
If you are using weighted assignment groups, make sure your groups add up to 100%. Create an additional group called Extra Credit that is set to 100% as well. Create a 100 point assignment within the group that is "No submission" or "Paper submission" and add your extra credit here.

Official academic course sites are created in Canvas automatically, and enrollments in the sites are managed by the official enrollment data in the registration system (Banner). Changes can take up to 24 hours to update.
If you do not see a course on your dashboard:
check to see if you are using "favorites" and have hidden the course accidentally.
Check to see if you are listed as the instructor of record.
Check back later to see if it has been updated.
If you need immediate access, please contact ITS.
Access to Canvas is automated based on Banner records. Your department is responsible for processing your access, so please contact your program coordinator or department chair. If you don't have a MIDAS login for Canvas, the department can initiate one.
Guest or "affilliate" instructors should also request Blackboard and MIDAS access from their department.
