The Valley House has changed over time because of differences in who has owned it and what was added to or improved on the building. For example, the Valley House burned down three times in 1838, 1939, and 1998 and was rebuilt twice. It changed each time it was rebuilt. After the third fire they did not rebuild the Valley House, and it is now an empty parking lot. Also, the Valley House looked different each time it was rebuilt in 1838 and 1939. The Valley House also changed the technology that it used. In the 1800’s, technology was not as great as the 1900s' more modern technology. Things like the lighting and the plumbing improved a lot. The services offered in the Valley House expanded too, including a restaurant, a bar, and a barbershop. Another change is the Valley House had different people who owned it. Jesse Cook is the person who originally built the Valley House in 1833, and Mr. Boone owned it after it was rebuilt the second time. The Bolduc family owned the Valley House last and still owns the plot of land where it once stood.
The 1838 fire was caused by the furnace.
The second fire at the Valley House was in 1939.
The third and final fire was caused by an electrical issue.
After the fire of 1838 the Valley House was rebuilt for the first time.
The Valley House was remodeled after the second fire in 1939. You can see the difference in the roof.
Unfortunately, the Valley House was not rebuilt due to the $1.5 million dollars worth of damage during the 3rd fire.
