The Orleans Fire Department has changed over time because of its location and the way it is run. First, it's been in two different locations. The original station was built in 1915 and the new Orleans Fire Department station was built in 1997-98. The difference between the two buildings is that the newest one is a lot bigger than the old one, and the new building is built in front of the old one and closer to the road. The Orleans Fire Department has also changed in various ways because of the types of trucks, clothes, and equipment they use. Lastly, in the past the Orleans Fire Department was all volunteer, but now members get paid a small amount to go to a fire. This is how the Orleans Fire Department has changed.

The Jaws of Life are used to cut or open the door forcefully to help a trapped person. They have saved many lives.
