Ogle County Educational Cooperative (OCEC) utilizes and trains staff in the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) model of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention®. CPI provides staff with practical strategies to safely prevent and de-escalate difficult situations while prioritizing the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠ of students and staff. Through CPI training, OCEC works to reduce the risk of injury, strengthen staff confidence and retention, maintain compliance with state mandates and regulatory standards, and promote safe, supportive learning environments for all students.

Initial Training | SY 26/27
Initial CPI trainings are available for educational staff who are new to CPI or who have not maintained active certification through yearly renewal training. Lunch will be provided. Please check each training date for specific times and locations. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sturdy close-toed shoes and bring a pen. Room temperatures may be cool, so layers are recommended.
Renewal Training | SY 26/27
Renewal/Refresher trainings are available for staff who have completed Initial CPI training and maintained certification through annual renewal training. Trainings will be held in the OCEC Office basement in Byron (417 N. Colfax St., Byron, IL 61010) unless otherwise noted. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and sturdy close-toed shoes and bring a pen. Layers are recommended due to cooler room temperatures.

ISBE Restraint and Time Out (RTO) "Trained Adult" Update
In order to maintain Illinois State Board of Education Restraint and Time Out certification, participants must annually obtain 8 hours training in the following areas: Restorative practices, RTO Rules and Regulations, Signs of distress, Trauma informed practices, Behavior, Proactive approaches to behavior and Functional behavior assessment. CPI training hours count towards the required 8 hours. Keep documentation of training.
