Special Education Apps
Tablet computers and other electronic devices are making a significant impact on special education thanks to their large display (which can accommodate students with poor fine-motor skills as well as students with visual impairments) and their portability. They can store and run hundreds of apps, or programs, that may help students with disabilities perform various tasks, such as communicate with others, brush up on math skills, read text aloud, and transcribe sentences. By downloading apps with various functions, these devices can take the place of a multitude of bulkier, single-function assistive technologies.
Below are links to two documents that list and describe some of the apps that are available for students with disabilities.
