Assignment 4.1 Basics of Photoshop

Follow along with the tutorial, at the end of each section of the tutorial show your instructor your work.

You will submit the final doubled car image for grading

submit your file as lastname_firstname_4.1.psd, it must be submitted as a .psd (photoshop file)

Assignment 4.2 Making an image Black and White

Follow along with the tutorial,

Make a copy layer of the original image so you can flip back and forth between the edited image and the original image

a) replicate the tutorial on the provided image (a)

b) replicate the tutorial on an image that you take (b)

c) replicate the tutorial on the right half of the provided image (c) this means the image is divided vertically down the center with the left half colour and the right half black and white.

You will submit 3 files for this assignment:

  • 4.2a Black and White (with original colour image on separate layer) of provide image lastname_firstname_4.2a.psd
  • 4.2b Black and White (with original colour image on separate layer) of image you take lastname_firstname_4.2b.psd
  • 4.3c Black and white/Colour center divided image of provided image lastname_firstname_4.2c.psd

Activity 4.3 Removing Unwanted Items from a Picture

Follow along with the tutorial to learn how to remove unwanted items from an image

Use the resources bellow, at the end of this assignment you will submit the following:

  • 4.3a .psd file of dog and footprints removed
  • 4.3b .psd file of corn+hand and 2 cows of your choice removed
  • 4.3c .psd file of girl in red on bicycle removed
  • 4.3d .psd file of bicycle removed

Remember to make a copy of the original image layer before starting your work so you can flip back and forth between the two to see your progress.

4.4 Removing Blemishes From an Image

Follow along with the tutorial to learn how to remove unwanted blemishes from a face

4.5 Face Swap

Fallow along with the video tutorial below to learn how to swap faces in photoshop.

At the end of this activity you will hand in the following:

  • 4.4a .psd file of human face swap (your choice out of the 4 faces as to which you swap)
  • 4.4b .psd file of animal face swap (dog face on cat body)

4.6 Photoshop Yourself into a Picture

Combine your skills learned from Activity 4.3 and 4.4 and 4.5 to remove the girl in the images below and replace them with an image of yourself. You can use an image you have already if it replicates the position or take a new on that replicates the 2 images. Make sure to use a simple background behind your picture as it will make working with the images easier.

At the end of this activity you will submit the following:

  • 4.5a .psd file of you sitting crossed legged on top of the suv
  • 4.5b .psd file of you standing in front of the sheep

4.7 Creating Reflections in Ps

Fallow the tutorial to create a reflection water. You will receive the image file via email.

Further instructions provided in class

Use Font : Princetown LET, as we do not have the font woodcut in our font library

You need small words and a Big word to reflect, words choice is yours as long as it is relevant to the photo

Stock photo has been emailed to you
