Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge
Listen to Mem Fox's story about memories. Authors get their ideas for writing via their memories. If we were in the classroom, each student would receive a paper bag and we would use our senses to feel, touch, and smell the contents of the bag before opening it up and smelling the inside of the bag too. Students then get to reach into the bag and pull out the object in the bag. Before the prevalence of allergies, I would bake cookies for the students. More recently, I started using feathers, rocks, play-doh, etc. Students are usually really excited about the object reveal.
For this week's assignment, please choose an object of significance (seashell from a vacation, a sports medal, stuffy, etc.) for your child and have them brainstorm their ideas orally with you before recording their ideas either in a journal or a Google document using their school account.
If using a Google Doc, be sure to SHARE the document with heather.reichert@ocdsb.ca so that I can see and comment on your writing.

More information about creating their project will be shared next week.
