Studio assistants help keep the TIMARA Studio Complex clean and organized; they help ensure that the studios are ready for class and for sessions, check that all gear is functional, that the supply closet is organized and well-stocked, and track down any items that may have gone missing. They help keep gear dust-free, white boards clean, patch cables organized, and components sorted. Studio Assistants are a critical resource for the TIMARA community.
Studio assistants must:
To be arranged with studio engineer.
Over the course of the semester, under the guidance of the TIMARA studio engineer, each studio assistant will undertake one major organizational or studio documentation project. When other regular tasks have been completed during the weekly sessions, studio assistants will utilize their remaining time working on these tasks. Suggested tasks will be provided by the studio engineer, and the studio assistant and engineer will finalize details about the nature of the semester-long task collectively.
The substitute studio assistant fulfills all of the roles of the regular TIMARA studio assistant position when the regular teaching assistant is unavailable. Substitute studio assistants should typically be available during the regular studio assistant slots, and be prepared to step in to help out whenever feasible. Studio assistants will ideally seek substitutes at least one week in advance of the shift they will miss, though notice may be much shorter if the regular studio assistant is sick or has an emergency.
Please note that the TIMARA Department relies on studio assistants as a critical community resource. Please only apply for this position if you can commit to being punctual consistently, and to attending or finding substitutes (and alerting the studio engineer) for any missed shifts. Please arrange for substitutes at least one week in advance of the shift you plan to miss. If you are sick, please attempt to find a substitute, even if it is less than a week before your shift. If a studio assistant is consistently late or misses many shifts, their hours may be reassigned to a studio assistant substitute.
