The communications assistant is responsible for assisting with the identification of newsworthy content for the TIMARA blog, drafting and editing written and audiovisual content for blog posts, collecting media for the website from TIMARA community, and promoting blog posts on social media. Other miscellaneous tasks may include collecting information about alumni and current students in order to update our website.
Communications assistant must:
Be responsible, punctual, consistent, and have excellent attention to detail.
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Respond promptly to emails.
Be able to set own hours and consistently complete new content for review for the website.
The communications assistant should plan to spend about two hours per week throughout the course of the semester on communications tasks. Hours are flexible.
Identify potentially newsworthy content for the TIMARA blog
Draft and edit written and audiovisual content for blog posts
Take photos and/or make audio or video recordings
Collect, edit, and/or organize media for the website from the TIMARA community.
Promote blog posts on social media
Collect information regarding the current positions held by recent alumni in order to update the website
Collect websites of current students to link to from the TIMARA students page
Complete other communications-related tasks as directed by the department
Submit brief reports of tasks completed at the end of each work session
Attend a training session at the beginning of the academic year and/or semester in which you are hired.
