It has continued to be a busy term in Science but with the new timetable we are settled back into our labs and able to do much more practical which has been great for our classes, and lovely to see. Year 7 will now be moving onto the Science Skills topic we would usually do in September and will be able to earn their bunsen burner licenses!
Year 11 have been working hard on their Science mocks and the new analysis tools we are using this term will allow us to create really bespoke feedback for each class and individuals. We can then use that to plan our future teaching and revision with them as we prepare for the summer exams. Targeted intervention sessions have now paused until January and a big thank you to the teachers who have been giving up their time to run these sessions.
This year we offered Pyschology and Health and Social Care in the options process for the first time - uptake was really positive and these classes are now completing their first time of the courses. Mrs Isley, Mrs Pringle, Mr Streamer, Mrs Pettingel and myself have all really enjoyed teaching new courses and getting to know students in a lesson other than GCSE Science!
As a tricky year draws to a close, the whole Science team would like to wish you and your families a safe, healthy and very Happy Christmas!
