This term Oathall supported the Diana award charity during the annual anti-bullying week. The school took part in Odd socks day to promote difference and to show that we stand against bullying. Staff and students made pledges to stand against bullying and during tutor time we spent time discussing the importance of supporting each other. Oathall raised a total of £910.82 for a fantastic charity that supports young people.
Each tutor group now has their own worry box that has been made by our reps. These are for students to place any worries and concerns they may have to then be discussed with their tutor or wellbeing rep. We hope these help our students talk about concerns so they are provided with any support they need.
Our wellbeing reps took part in a training session led by some of our experienced year 11 reps. During this session our reps learnt about wellbeing in more detail and worked through different scenarios and discussed ways that they would help to support other students in these circumstances. This was a very positive event and really highlighted how caring and dedicated our wellbeing reps are.
We now have 5 members of staff who are trained as Mental Health First Aiders. These staff members are able to provide support to those in the first instance and signpost when further help is required.
We have been lucky enough to welcome back the Juno Project this term to work with groups of girls. Their work focuses on empowering young girls to reach their potential. They have been leading in school and online sessions as well as a 12 week programme for a selected group of year 10 girls. The sessions are supportive and enable the pupils to have a voice and develop a growth mindset that helps them to overcome barriers.
We were also able to take a group of year 11 girls to a workshop run by the Juno Project at Haywards Heath Town Hall. The group had a great time and learnt new skills and strategies to help build their self esteem and confidence.
If you would like to know more about the programmes please see their website or speak to Miss Murray.
The school battled it out to see who was victorious in yet another successful House Games Week. All students in key stage 3 and key stage 4 took part in an inter house fight in both Handball and Football. There were some surprising results along the way but ....... were crowned the champions.
Nothing could dampen the students spirit, not even the torrential rain on Thursday! Students actively took part demonstrating team work, grit and determination. It was really nice to see students working together in order to support their house.
Congratulations everyone and especially ......... who were victorious!
