Our year 9's are currently doing a topic on climate change. Students are studying the causes and impacts of climate change with a strong focus on the available solutions to this very real global issue. In an ideal world, we would have arranged a trip to the Brighton Rampion wind farm education centre. However, due to Covid restrictions, this is not possible. Undeterred, we have arranged a virtual outreach session - the Rampion Education Officer, on Wed 16th December, will be delivering an interactive online session via Zoom titled "Why Wind"? . Some year 9 students will enjoy a live presentation and will be introduced to the Rampion Wind Farm down in Brighton. Students will be shown how the wind farm works and discuss why wind energy is so important, with regards to climate change. We are all looking forward to this event and undoubtedly it will provide students with a fantastic insight into this impressive solution to climate change right on our doorsteps!
Y9 students have been reflecting on some of their learning from last year's school closure, this was a review lesson completed about climate and rainfall. Check out these amazing rainfall spinners!
Many Year 8 students have been enjoying reacting to the events of the Montserrat volcano whilst in role as a crisis management team based at the Montserrat Volcano Observatory. Students had to respond to a chronological sequence of events at speed! They were also asked to annotate a map with the key events.
Here is some of their work:
