Scholastic Magazines provide both digital and print materials for our students to read and explore. With the Science of Reading becoming increasingly required in Ohio schools, this can be a great tool to focus on Reading in every classroom.
When you login to the Scholastic Magazines site for teachers, you can view printable graphic organizers that go with each article, view aligned presentations and videos created by Scholastic, and print articles at adjusted Lexile levels for students.
The minimum number of issues you can purchase is 10, so this is what we normally do. This means we can't really link it to Google Classroom for each student to login to Scholastic and complete their work on that site, but we do still have access to the wealth of resources for teachers.
You cannot activate magazines that we have not purchased for your school. If you'd like to add a magazine to your school's subscription list, reach out to Emily Knight at eknight@oakmontedu.org .
To activate the Scholastic Magazines, first you need the Access Code, which is in tiny print on the orange paper that comes with the magazine bundle. If your office staff have conveniently unwrapped them for you and thrown away all the packaging, you might have missed the Access Code. There should be one Access Code per magazine per year, so once the magazines arrive, the codes will be listed in the document below.
Scholastic provides graphic organizers for each article that you can print, but they also provide general ones for each subject area. Check out the organizers below. Feel free to check out other subjects as well if you think they might be useful for your students.
