Literacy tasks

You have literacy tasks that need to be completed over the course of the school year. There is no set order to complete these.

Task 1

You will come across a lot of new keywords in Geography. Create your own key word list of Geographical terms that you do not understand. You need to have a definition for each word that makes sense to you.

The list needs to be at least 10 words that are important to you and that you use regularly in class. You need to review these each term and add in new words over the year.

You can also include a Spanish translation to help you remember the word.

Task 2

Acronyms can be a useful way to remember difficult concepts. These are abbreviations using the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a word (e.g. NASA).

To create an acronym, write the word you have chosen down your page with one letter on each line. Then use each letter to create another word. Your acronyms need to be relevant to the topic you are studying

Here is an example:

N ever

E at

S hredded

W heat

Task 3

Twitter uses 'tweets' to allow you to speak to the wider world using approximately 280 characters.

Using 280 characters, create a tweet to describe or explain a geographical concept (e.g. Global warming) to your friend. This needs to be a relevant topic covered in lessons to help you summarise important information.
