Extension tasks: Geography skills (Term 1.1)

Choose one of the following Extension tasks to complete in your own time. These need to be completed before the Christmas Holidays.

1) Create your own map of a place you are interested in. This can be 2-D or 3-D to best represent the area. Your map needs to include a title, key, scale and symbols to show what it is. You need to also include a description of the Geography in the area and explain its importance.

2) Create a list of a 'normal school day' and find out how it links back to Geography (e.g. take the car to school - fuel, road, etc). Try and link things as far as you can (e.g. Eat breakfast - Fruit -> Bananas -> Ghana)

3) Write a news report on a place / country that you are interested in. This needs to include a map of the place, fact file of the most important information, when the place was created and its history until today. You may want to include images.

You need to include a reference list of all of the sources you used to help you research and complete your task. This means a list of any books, websites, articles or other sources you used. This should be on a separate sheet attached to your chosen task.
