Niagara Falls

Rushing turquoise water bursts down the Niagara Falls into the turquoise sea. It makes splashes. The splashes are huge and iconic from the wide waterfall, rolling into the ocean. People shoot photos in excitement.

How It Formed

Niagara Falls formed about 12,000 years ago at the end of the ice age. When lots of water was released from the melting ice, it drained into the Niagara River. The water plunged over the edge of the Niagara Escarpment to Lewiston, NY. Watch this animation.
