Tuesday, July 1: Student Departure
Students may change their course registration on Albert through the first two days of summer semester or through the first two weeks of courses in each fall and spring semester. The Drop/Add deadline is on the NYU Paris Center’s calendar. Students who drop classes after this date will receive a “W” (withdrawal) on their transcript.
The last day to add/drop a course is May 22.
You may request a pass/fail for a course before the completion of the fifth week of the term in Summer or before the completion of the fourteenth week of the term in both Fall and Spring semester; after that time, the decision cannot be initiated or changed. No grade other than P or F will be recorded for those students choosing this option. P includes the grades of A, B, C, and D and is not counted towards the grade point average. F, however, is counted towards the average.
The last day to request a pass/fail is June 20.
Please note that the Office of Global Programs requires all NYU Paris students to take their required French language courses for graded credit. Students are limited to one pass/fail course every semester, which is a maximum of 32 credits over four years. In practice, it is inadvisable to take too many pass/fail courses.
Before declaring this option, it is highly recommended to consult your home academic advisor (If you don’t know who your advisor is, visit the Finding your academic advisor webpage). You also must meet in person with a member of the NYU Paris academic affairs team before declaring the pass/fail option. Pass/Fail requests must be submitted by the deadline noted on the NYU Paris Center’s Calendar. After students consult their home academic advisor and a member of the NYU Paris academic affairs team, they should follow the procedures listed below.
Procedures and forms for the Pass/Fail option vary according to the student’s home school.
Click on the logo to access the forms, follow the procedures when specified or contact your advisor.
NYU Abu Dhabi students should contact nyuad.registrar@nyu.edu and NYUAD's Academic Administration Office will process their pass/fail request.
NYU Shanghai students should fill out the Pass/Fail Request form here. Please scan and email the form to your Academic Advisor or shanghai.advising@nyu.edu
Non-NYU students should take all NYU courses for a letter grade, as most institutions will not transfer credit for pass/fail courses. Students should consult their home institution if they wish to receive a pass/fail grade on their transcript. If their home school approves, and they would like to have a pass/fail grade appear on their NYU transcript, please have their home school study abroad advisor email global.academics@nyu.edu with approval of the pass/fail request.
After the Drop/Add deadline (the end of the second day of courses in summer or the end of the second week of courses in each fall and spring semester), withdrawing from a course will result in a "W" on your transcript. You can request to withdraw from eligible classes using the Class Withdrawal process in Albert.
Always consult your home academic advisor as well as a member of the NYU Paris academic team to inform them of your academic progress and to be sure that you are aware of the implications of receiving a “W” on your transcript.
