If sending mail and packages to a Lafayette Hall Resident, please use the following format:
Resident First & Last Name
87 White Street, suite number and bedroom letter
New York, NY 10013
Example:
Bob Cat
87 White Street, #101B
New York, NY 10013
The mailboxes are located on the ground floor, around the corner from the Resource Center, across from the vending machines. Each suite (apartment) shares a mailbox, accessible by a mailbox key given to each suite member at check-in. The mail room is accessible 24/7.
Packages can be picked up in the Resource Center only during operating hours (see Resource Center (RC) page).
Important note on packages: Residents will receive an email from NYU 'Notifii' once their package has arrived. Often residents may come down for a package because they received an email from the courier that their package has arrived. This is usually in error of the postal service (USPS). Nationally, USPS trucks often mark packages as delivered once they have been loaded onto the USPS delivery truck before even leaving the distribution center. The packages are of course delivered some hours (and sometimes days) later.
We understand that this could be frustrating. Residents may still inquire at the RC if their package has arrived, but do not be surprised if it is not in the Lafayette mailroom, despite the email notification from the courier. Residents may contact the courier for more details. This is most common with Amazon packages that may initially ship with UPS, but get transferred to the USPS shipping center once it arrives in New York City. Thus Amazon Prime items may arrive in three (3) business days, not two.
Please trust that once mail and packages have arrived in the Lafayette mailroom, they will be promptly processed. Notifii email notifications will be sent expediently.
