If you know your room number, you can see the floor plans online to give you a sense of the layout. Please know that if you have a red dot on the room, this indicates that the room has a ventilation gap--a section of wall engineered to let airflow and natural light through to common space (due to city ordinances).
Lafayette Hall includes full kitchens in every suite, including a sink, electric oven, electric coil stove, cabinets, and full refrigerator. Microwaves and dishwashers are not included. Residents are responsible for providing their own cookware, dishes and cutlery. There are small waste bins in every bedroom and common room. Shower curtains are provided in each bathroom.
Each apartment varies in its layout and square footage, thus we are unable to advise on how to arrange the furniture in the room, other than the layout already provided.
Here is a recommended list of general items to bring.
Apartments are not equipped with any of the following permitted items: microwaves, coffee makers, blenders, toasters (OR toaster ovens, you may not have both), televisions, bath linens, iron and ironing board. Residents are responsible for providing their own cookware (pots, pans, etc.), dishes and cutlery. Bed linens and pillows are not provided, and all mattresses are twin extra long (XL).
Please also be aware that all rooms have been cleaned professionally before residents check-in. Throughout the summer however, it is each resident's responsibility to clean and maintain their suite. It will therefore be useful to bring your own cleaning supplies for continued use throughout your stay.
The following items are prohibited: candles, incense, hot plates (Foreman grills) or other open flame/heating coil devices, additional furniture, emotional support or service animals. Any emotional support or service animals must be approved through our Moses Center for Student Accessibility prior to arrival.
NOTE: Decorations may NOT be mounted using masking tape, duct tape, 3M tape, putty, 3M hooks, nails, screws or anything fixative that could damage walls. We ask that you only use painters tape to hang items and protect the integrity of the walls.
