MCC Research and Professional Development Fund (MCC) The department is dedicated to fostering graduate student research and professional development initiatives. This fund defrays the cost of professional activities such as conference fees, research projects/supplies, etc. Students can apply once per academic term with the total award amount not to exceed $1,000.
Mitchell Leaska Scholarship (MCC) honors the legacy of Mitchell Leaska, a distinguished professor at NYU Steinhardt for close to 40 years. MCC master's students are eligible to apply for funding to support the preparation and presentation of original scholarly work at conferences. Students can only receive this award one time during their academic tenure at NYU Steinhardt.
NYU Steinhardt is committed to assisting students in the process of financing their education by offering scholarships that are both need and merit-based. Generally scholarships are awarded to new students and typically continue throughout the duration of the student’s studies. From time to time there are funds available to award to continuing students. Priority and preference is given to those who are not currently receiving scholarship support.
Fulbright applications (NYU) are usually due in September. All letters of reference and a language evaluation need to be completed by then. Visit the GSAS Fulbright page for more information.
Graduate Student Organization (GSO) Competitive Professional Development Fund deadlines are in December and May. Reimbursements will be given only for professional work or activities connected to the student's program of study or professional development.
The NYU Mainzer Fellowship in Gender Studies provides funding for graduate students whose work involves gender to attend a course in Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge. Annual competition in March.
Steinhardt Undergraduate and Master's Students Research/Creative Project Awards Outstanding undergraduate or master’s Students at NYU Steinhardt are invited to apply for the Steinhardt Undergraduate and Master’s Student Research/Creative Project Award. Students may be awarded up to $500 to conduct a research study or creative project under the supervision of a faculty member.
Provost Global Research Initiative
The Global Research Institutes were created to support NYU full-time faculty and graduate students who wish to have NYU infrastructural support while conducting research abroad. Rolling acceptances. Applicants must plan to use the fellowship to write or research a thesis.
The Wasserman Center Internship Grant was established to provide financial assistance to students pursuing non-paying internships within not-for-profits, the arts, education, public service and other industries that do not traditionally pay their interns. NYU Student Conference Fund
The Student Government Assembly (SGA), with the generous assistance of the Senior Vice-Provost for Research, manages a fund to support NYU student participation in conferences related to academic or professional development. The Conference Fund is available to all enrolled students, both undergraduate and graduate, who are seeking funding to attend or host a conference related to their academic or professional goals.
