w/ Alex Kratofil, Bear Smith, and Prima Gonzalez
Join Head Librarian Alex Kratofil and Associate Librarian Bear Smith for the launch of the NYFA Library’s newest streaming platform, Infobase! Infobase is your one stop shop for accessing nearly 2000 domestic and international movie titles available for FREE to all current NYFA staff, faculty, and students.
Alex and Bear demonstrate how to access Infobase and highlight the service’s various features and functionalities. They also discuss issues around educational and fair use vs. situations in which public performance rights (PPR) need to be secured, as well as speak to ways to integrate the movies available via Infobase directly into course syllabi and more. Prima Gonzalez, CETL Director, also highlights ways to incorporate Infobase features on Google Classroom including how to create segments of films and drafting and sharing quizzes.

w/Christina Kellagher, MFA Creative Writing
In this presentation, Christina Kellagher introduces Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) to NYFA faculty and staff. WAC recognizes and supports the integration of writing in every course offered at NYFA in any and every way. WAC programs broadly support three, often intertwined, approaches to increasing the use of writing to support student growth:
writing to learn
writing to engage
and writing in the disciplines.
In this workshop you discover how you can engage your students to critically think and reflect about your course through writing regardless of discipline.
