Getting to know Infobase!
Infobase provides access to nearly 2000 domestic and international movie titles available for FREE to all current NYFA staff, faculty, and students. Currently our NYFA community has access to the Feature Films for Education database.
In the following recorded session, former NYFA librarians Alex and Bear demonstrate how to access Infobase and highlight the service’s various features and functionalities.
They also discuss issues around educational and fair use vs. situations in which public performance rights (PPR) need to be secured, as well as speak to ways to integrate the movies available via Infobase directly into course syllabi and more. Prima Gonzalez, LA-CETL Director, also highlights ways to incorporate Infobase features on Google Classroom including how to create segments of films and drafting and sharing quizzes.
a note from Librarian Marti Reppetto, "If you are off campus or are prompted by infobase for a password, type nyfa1 in both the user name and password fields"
Classroom Access to Kanopy (LA Campus)
The NYFA Library is happy to announce that one of our streaming services, Kanopy, is now available via a Roku app.
All classrooms will soon be outfitted with Roku players and the Kanopy app is already loaded on these devices. It’s also already logged in, so simply navigate to the app to access the films we offer via this service!
If you want to stream a film from one of our other services, they all have the ability to AirPlay to the Roku players. Simply click/tap the AirPlay icon on the video player and follow the on-screen instructions. Examples of this procedure are provided below.
The carousel below provides a visual walkthrough of the process.
