Mission Statement
Counseling at NYFA aims to support current students to collaboratively explore and understand personal issues in a neutral, compassionate setting. We support students through short-term counseling here on campus and by connecting them to long-term or specialized therapy and psychiatry within the community. Our aim is to promote healthy mental and emotional lives for our students by advocating early connection to care. Counseling provides support to the larger NYFA community through staff consultation and regular training related to identifying, supporting, and addressing the mental health needs of NYFA students with a particular focus on suicide prevention. Introducing TalkCampus
NYFA is excited to share that the college has partnered with TalkCampus, a 24/7 global peer support platform for students to talk about the ups and downs of life.
What is TalkCampus?
A safe and moderated online community with professionals and clinicians monitoring in real time
A place where students can connect with other students around the world to give and get support
A platform where you can confidently direct your students to if they need support with how they’re feeling
How can students access TalkCampus? Students can download the TalkCampus app or sign up here.
TalkCampus holds regular staff training sessions to learn more. Please ask if you would like to join one of these sessions.
TalkCampus isn’t a replacement for NYFA’s Counseling Services or professional support but it's a great place for students to start talking and be reminded that however they’re feeling right now, they’re not alone.
