Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite comic strip because it reminds me so much of all the adventures and explorations my younger brother and I had while growing up together.
My brother and I grew up in the area and Northwestern Lehigh is our Alma Mater..."Go Tigers!"🐯 I attended Northwestern Elementary for grades K-6 and the high school for grades 7-12. When I graduated in 1992, the middle school was in the final stages of opening up it's doors to students for the 1992-93 school year. I never imagined at the time that I would some day be teaching there. I was hired as a sixth grade teacher during the 2000-2001 school year. Since then, I have also taught fifth grade when it used to be in the middle school. I am currently on the Pathfinder team 💜teaching social studies and science.
Eventhough I have spent a lot of time at Kutztown University (received my Master's Degree in Art Education in December 2008), I still consider myself a Nittany Lion..."We Are...Penn State!" I always knew that I wanted to become a teacher 🍎, so I went to Penn State and received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in May 1996. During my last semester, I had the opportunity to student teach in Pierre, South Dakota, at the Pierre Indian Learning Center. I taught third graders of various Native American tribes. It was an experience that I will hold close to my heart.
A few other things that I hold close to my ❤️ are my husband and our two sons, our goldendoodle Daisy, family, friends, and the many memories of teaching children.
When I am not teaching, you may find me watching football🏈 basketball🏀and baseball⚾ reading📖 drawing🖍️ writing poetry📝 fishing🎣 paddleboarding 💦, hiking 🥾 and running/walking🏃♀️
So, stop by my room if you have a fish story or a funny pet story to tell, want to talk about sports, just want to recommend a book, or read me a poem that you wrote. I am a good listener!
