All 5th grade students received the summer packet in June. (If your child has misplaced their packet, they may request one at orientation or on the first day of school.) This packet covers skills that are essential to success in 6th grade and have all been taught in previous grades. Students should be working through this packet paying attention to accuracy. Each page shows how to do the work on that page. Please refer to it as needed. ALL WORK must be shown for problems in order to receive full credit. Please use the attached vocabulary page in packet to help with the fill in the blank vocabulary questions. Answers need to be copied ACCURATELY to the answer page. This is especially important in the use of decimals! The last page (multiplication timed test) does NOT have to be turned in as part of the packet. Make copies and practice - students are expected to do 100 problems in 3 minutes. (Other timed tests can be found under math facts section).
During the first week of school we will briefly review skills in the packet and clarify any questions. Therefore I will NOT collect any packets until the second week of school - starting Tues. Sept. 2nd. All packets MUST be completed and turned in to me NO LATER THAN Fri. Sept. 5th. This is their first assessment grade for the marking period.
To access the math packet below, click on the packet and a pop-up window should appear. Choose the icon that says open in a new tab (box with arrow in it). There is also a fractions review below with all different types of vocabulary and problems to help your child.
