Our textbook is called Big Ideas Math. A textbook is sent home with every student. We will use this book regularly in class. Your child may keep the book at home and use the on-line version in class or they may bring it to school on a daily basis. Regardless of whether they bring the textbook to school or not, it MUST BE covered to prevent any damage - spills, coloring, stains etc. These books are almost brand new. We will learn how to navigate through the book together in class. Directions for using the online textbook and resources will be shared with students in Google Classroom. There are also many online resources available to students via the online textbook - I will point some out as we go through the year but feel free to explore on your own!
Students will be expected to keep a math notebook - this will include lesson topics, vocabulary, step-by-step problems they do with me, practice problems, and any assigned work. This notebook is what they should be using to study for their quizzes and assessments. This is the spiral notebook - not loose leaf papers - too hard to keep organized and in order. Students are expected to be putting the date, lesson number, and title every time we start a new lesson. I always put these on the board prior to starting notes.
