Absences and Absence Notes

A note is required following an absence. You may not phone in or e-mail an excuse. Absence notes must be turned in before school to the dean’s office no later than the third day after the student returns from the absence. Upon return students must request any missed assignments from their teachers.

ABSENCE INFORMATION

    • Absences from a part of the school day for medical/dental appointments will not count towards the absence total if written verification from your doctor's office is provided.
    • An unexcused absence may become a truancy issue, which is subject to citation.
    • The school may only excuse your child's absence if he/she is mentally or physically unable to attend school. (NRS 392.130)
    • Once a student exceeds 10 unapproved absences per semester, he/she will lose credit, regardless of what grade they may be earning in their classes.

ABSENCE NOTES SHOULD INCLUDE:

    • Student’s first and last name, student number, and grade
    • Date(s) student was absent
    • The reason for absence(s)
    • Current telephone number
    • Parent/Guardian name and signature

HOW CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ATTENDANCE?

You can log in to your Infinite Campus account to see your child’s absences.

You will receive attendance notifications in the mail for both excused and unexcused absences. You may not call the school to verify absences. Due to the confidentiality of student information (Regulation CCSD 5125.1, Family Education Rights of Privacy Act of 1974), Molasky JHS will not release or disclose information from a student's educational/attendance record by telephone, as we are unable to ascertain the identity of the caller. The parent/guardian must go to the office and present proper identification (valid picture ID, driver's license, military ID) prior to any information being given.
