Do you dream of one day standing in front of a court of law, arguing your case? Is wearing the robes of a Supreme Court Justice one of your life goals? Check out the law major at Canyon Springs and see if it's the right one for you.
The law major is a rigorous academic program that will challenge all students and prepare them for a future in legal studies. Students who declare this major will be trained to read and understand law briefs, case law and court opinion. By graduation, students will be able to prepare an essay on legal issues. Students will be exposed to guest speakers such as lawyers, judges, paralegals, and others in the legal field to give them as much exposure to the legal field as possible. When time permits, students will participate in mock trials, and our community partners help us to bring actual trials into our courtroom for students to observe. Field trips will be utilized as they become available. All students are required to perform a 60 hours internship between their junior and senior year. Students will be challenged by coursework, a 60 hour internship in their chosen major, and thesis they will present before students, faculty, and advisory board members.
Students have the opportunity to participate in clubs on campus such as Speech and Debate, Model UN, and Mock Trial that will help them hone their skills and become a prolific debater before the graduate high school.
