About Coach Thrasher
I have been coaching track and cross country since I started teaching in CCSD in 2000. I am also the head track and field coach at Arbor View. I am USATF level 2 certified in Sprints, Hurdles, Relays, and Distance. I have my Cross Country Specialist endorsement through USATF as well. I have completed the distance education program through USTFCCCA.
I first started coaching at Cheyenne High School here in Las Vegas in 2000. There I served as the head track & field coach and cross country coach for 17 years. I have coached both sprints and distance in my career. I have been the head track coach at Arbor View since the spring of 2020 and took over the cross country program in the fall of 2022. Throughout my career I have coached State Champions in the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800. I have also had athletes set state records in the 400, 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800. I was named Southern Nevada Women's track and field coach of the year in 2005, 2017, and 2024. I was named Sunset girls track and field coach of the year in 2005 and 2017. I was named girls Mountain Division track and field coach of the year in 2024. I was also named the Southern Nevada Event Specialist Middle Distance Coach of the year in 2024. The Las Vegas Review Journal named me All Southern Nevada Girls Coach of the year in 2025. My girls teams have been team track and field State Champions in 2001, 2005, 2024, and 2025.
I believe in the science behind why things work. Every workout has an objective and a goal. Simply running more won't make you faster. Proper programming and dosage will. No matter what the distance of the race is, our ultimate goal is to make athletes faster.
