Assalamu Alaikum,
I am honored to assume the responsibilities of Oculus’s Editor-In-Chief position this school year. Going virtual will not stop our members from keeping up with the news, putting forth their best work, and producing high quality consumable articles.
I look forward to working closely with my peers in developing our writing skills and covering the wide scope of newspaper topics. I believe the success of the Oculus newspaper is largely owed to its writer, editors, and readers. Evidently, this year will be unlike any other, so I’m excited to lead the club!

Oculus Welcome Letter 2020-2021
Salaams All,
My name is Anisah Mahmood, and I am at NUI Senior. I am honored to be Managing Editor for the Oculus school newspaper this year.
Though this current situation is not how most of us imagined this school year to be, I am confident that it will be a memorable experience in its own way. The talented writers and editors on our Oculus staff have new and exciting things planned to make this year’s newspaper a way for the entire school to stay connected during this time of uncertainty. We are looking forward to using this new online forum to engage with Oculus readers in a way that was not possible before.
In addition to the traditional journalistic aspects of the newspaper which includes columns such as World News, School News, and Op-Ed, we plan on adding interactive elements that allow feedback from our readers, such as polls through the new Schoology learning management system. We are also going to expand Oculus by making it a place to showcase the immense talent within our NUI student body through schoolwide writing contests.
On behalf of the Oculus staff, we are looking forward to an exciting and successful school year, inshaAllah.

The Oculus Newspaper is created entirely by the students of Noor-Ul-Iman School in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey.
