Paper Weaving

Students will learn about the weaving process by using paper. They will first create their own loom out of construction paper. Then, by using the tabby weave technique, they will weave with small strips of paper. Weaving is one of the most ancient forms of creativity. It helps show students the importance of the process in your work, instead of just the product.

Objectives:

• To practice fine motor skills, such as cutting paper neatly, and weaving with paper
• To develop a basic knowledge and gain experience with weaving using over, under, over, under pattern
• Students will produce a simple weaving project and will be able to discuss the basic vocabulary of weaving

• Construction Paper
• Scissors
• Glue Stick
• Pencils
• Crayons
