Kandinsky Circles

Students will look at the work of Wassily Kandinsky, and focus on his concentric circle paintings, while we talk about his artwork and style. Then they will create their own circle drawing using oil pastels. The individual finished drawings can be added all together to create a giant collaborative Kandinsky mural!

Objectives:

• To introduce students to the artwork of Wassily Kandinsky.
• To practice fine motor skills of drawing circles freehand.
• Working with oil pastel skills. These tools can be tricky, and the lesson should help teach children how to use them in different ways.
• Create a oil pastel resist

Materials:

• 8 x 8 white paper
• Oil pastels
• Watercolor Paint
